VOLUNTEERS REQUIRED

The Laboratories for Fundamental Research invite you to volunteer to participate in an exciting experiment to explore how your nervous system can automatically predict the future.

With medically approved equipment, we monitor the properties of your skin at your fingertips. Our skin sometimes reflects our emotional state. That is, if you are a little nervous or you are suddenly surprised, your hands become a bit damp. Our sensitive equipment can sense that change long before it is obvious to you.

The total time commitment is about an hour, but the experiment itself takes approximately 20 minutes. Initially you will hear a complete description of the experiment and read and approve a consent form. Then, after we have attached the skin monitoring equipment and earphones, we will monitor your skin properties during the session. From time to time on a random basis you will hear about 10 very loud bursts of 1-second long white noise (similar to the sound of the sea surf). At the end, we will show you the results and provide a plot of the data.

This experiment is very important because it is showing us that our nervous system can correctly anticipate the startling sound—even before the system has randomly decided whether to present the sound. This appears to be physiological evidence of precognition—peeking slightly into the future.

BOOKS

1. THE HOLONOMIC PARADIGM: Biophysics, Consciousness and Parapsychology

Keith A. Choquette

Available: www.xlibris.com/bookstore/bookdisplay.asp?bookid=14145

There is consequential movement in the literature toward nothing less than a revolution in science. At the heart of this movement is an old idea regarding nonlocal hidden variables in quantum theory and new work on quantum coherence within living organisms. The latter provides a basis for integrating consciousness into physics which is a major concern of this book. Many leading researchers have also recognized that new approaches to quantum physics and consciousness provide a basis for understanding parapsychology. Data of several disciplines are brought together to describe this profound paradigm shift taking shape in modern science.

Beyond the arguments regarding the best version of quantum theory, a profound reconceptualization of all nature is implied. The vacuum of space is not empty but filled with tremendous energy that not only gives rise to the physical universe but also provides a "sea" of hidden energy that reaches beyond space and time. Instead of completing the scientific endeavor with the "Theory of everything", the emerging situation suggests that most of the world remains beyond our senses and our science. If these ideas continue to gain empirical support it means that the physical and life sciences must expand and change beyond imagination. Everything must be considered anew.

Computerized Qigong Database

Upgraded to Version 6.0

Search 2050 Citations from Original Sources for
Clinical and Experimental Research on Qigong
        Available through the Qigong Institute

Many of you have expressed interest in an updated version of the Computerized Qigong Database. I am happy to report that after many months of volunteer labor at the non-profit Qigong Institute, the Computerized Qigong Database has been updated to V 6.0. We have added about 25% more citations than the previous V 5.0, so now you can search 2050 references in English from this collection of clinical and experimental  research studies on Qigong.  The Computerized Qigong Database is provided on a CD suitable for Macintosh and Windows compatible computers.

Of substantial importance now is the growing Western medical interest in Eastern studies, and the Qigong Database has been designed specifically to serve as your most valuable tool to pursue your field of interest.

The Qigong Database is a collection of abstracts from about 20 international conferences and more than 100 scientific journals.  Using any key word(s), you can cross reference the entire collection and learn how Qigong has been applied to treat chronic conditions such as hypertension, aging, asthma and cardiovascular disease.  Understanding which research studies have been completed or are still in progress will be simple to determine.

Since the 1980's Chinese scientists have carried out extensive clinical and experimental research on many medical applications of Qigong.  As a result, the health benefits of Qigong are well documented.  Exercises performed by the 'average person' as well as Qi emitted by Qigong Masters while treating their patients are clearly demonstrated in the Qigong Database. Citations in the Database encompass the period from 1986 to 2002.

The Qigong Database has been used as source material for six books, four dissertations and numerous research studies. Its feedback from medical practitioners, scientists and the public has been overwhelmingly supportive. This collection of scientific research abstracts in English is too large and significant to ignore.

Complete details about the Computerized Qigong Database and an order form can be viewed and downloaded from the web site of the Qigong Institute  http://www.qigonginstitute.org
For your convenience you may pay by credit card.  A special discount is available for those who purchased V. 5.0.

Thank you for your interest in the health benefits of Qigong and for your support of the Qigong Institute.
Sincerely,

Kenneth M. Sancier, PhD
